BCT
operates computer controlled, integrally zone heated, composite
molds and presses. The computer control equipment, power supply
equipment, molds, presses and control software are all of BCT's
own design and manufacture.
Traditionally,
prepreg laminations have been cured using ovens or autoclaves. These
methods generally use convection or radiant heat sources whose heat
control over the part as a whole is minimal at best.
In
comparison, BCT's control
equipment creates a part with a truly homogenous
cure. All areas of the laminates are cured evenly and precisely
to the resin system's optimal ramps and dwells. The equipment is
so precise that a maximum temperature delta between any two points
in a part being cured is less than 10 degrees F at ramp and less
than 5 degrees at dwell. Part cool-down is also controlled by the
equipment.
For
accuracy and speed, BCT uses CNC
cutting technology for the machining of its finished composite panels
and products.
