BCT laminates, cures and CNC machines epoxy prepreg, composite panels, sheets, and molded parts into their required sizes, shapes, and products specified by the customer.

Lay-ups

For molded parts, BCT technicians opperate the Gerber cutter to accurately cut material. All laminations, are precisely stacked directly onto the mold.

On panels and sheets up to 4' by 40', laminations are hand laid on the lower press face of the carriage system. The platten surfaces are covered with a premium grade, Teflon release, providing a superior part finish, although peelply finishes are available.

Curing

Curing of all BCT's laminations are achieved by its proprietary curing process and equipment. This equipment provides uniform heating of a part in ramp, dwell and cool-down and also accommodates cures that may require multiple ramps and dwells.

Control Screen Function Description

The main control screen regulates cure time and temp, alarm temp, vacuum pressure, and temp limits. It displays ramp rate and time related data.

In this particular view, one may observe the press transitioning into its curing stage.

The zone data screen displays dual thermocouple data for all zones in both the top and bottom plates. It also displays which zones are active and thermocouple data over time.

Displayed on the right is an Alcon eye laser surgery table skirt reacting after its first immediate dwell.

The first image displays the monitored curing process of the press, used in the making of flat composite panels and sheets. The last two display molded parts in their curing stages.

The equipment's control precision creates a laminate that is uniformly cured, provides the ability to optimize flow characteristics of the the resin system, and insures excellent cell filleting when honeycomb cores are used.

The curing process is monitored and controlled in real time. Data is displayed both graphically and numerically. In addition, each part processed has a record written to file. This provides a later reference to the cure data specific to that part.

Machining

Finished panels and molded parts are CNC machined to customer specifications and into finished products using BCT's CNC routers. All machining of composites is done with diamond tipped bits and blades.
